How we check

The FactUnion Standard

The FactUnion Standard is our research and fact-checking method. An episode marked FactUnion Verified was made this way, step by step.

  1. An episode marked FactUnion Verified is researched from published reporting and public records. Each fact is recorded with a link to its source.

  2. Each fact is checked twice before the script is written: against its own cited source, and by an independent search for anything that contradicts it. Facts that fail are corrected or cut.

  3. The script may only use facts from that checked fact sheet.

  4. Each recorded line is checked word by word against the script, so what you hear is what was checked.

  5. A verified episode publishes its full fact sheet and sources on its page.

  6. FactUnion shows are performed by synthetic voices. Verified episodes are written and checked to this standard.

  7. If we get something wrong, we correct the record publicly, on the episode page and on our corrections page. Write to corrections@factunion.com.

Sponsors

Sponsors never see or approve an episode before it is released. Each episode has one clearly marked sponsor message, built from the sponsor's own public facts.

Corrections

Every correction we make is listed on the corrections page. If you spot a mistake, write to corrections@factunion.com.
